Positive: The nature and location are absolutely stunning – the private bay, lush jungle surroundings, and the amount of wildlife make this place truly unique and unforgettable. The pools and lagoon are very clean and well maintained. We also want to acknowledge a few staff members from the buffet and the Oriental restaurant who were attentive, polite, and genuinely made us feel welcome. It was a pleasure to reward these people with well-deserved tips.
Negative: Unfortunately, the overall guest service quality was far below our expectations. Although we were prepared to tip and appreciate great service, very few employees seemed interested in assisting guests. Upon arrival, a porter took our luggage promising to deliver it immediately, yet we waited over 45 minutes in our room until we had to return to the front desk to resolve it. We repeatedly asked for additional water in our room – nobody ever followed through. The first day, housekeeping never came at all, and the minibar was not restocked. When our son got food poisoning, we were promised a special broth menu to be brought to the room; nobody ever came or checked on us afterward. Almost every request was answered with “yes, we will do it,” but nothing happened. Trying to play mini golf took three days because no one knew where to get equipment or what hours the club was open. Staff in El Pescador and Las Olivas restaurants seemed visibly unhappy we walked in, which made us feel uncomfortable. Finally, we disliked how aggressively the hotel tries to sell club memberships for extremely high prices. They were not willing to take “no” for an answer.
Summary: Beautiful location with great potential, but the guest service experience needs serious improvement.
